Rise Foundation Introduces the Issue of the Right to Food and Nutrition to 30 Youth in West Manggarai

In an effort to promote awareness and inspire real action, Rise Foundation, in collaboration with Urban Futures (UF), introduced the issue of the Right to Food and Nutrition (HAPG) to thirty young members of the West Manggarai Young People’s Learning Circle. The transition of jobs from agriculture and fishing to the tourism sector threatens the stability of the food supply. Inadequate infrastructure, including damaged roads that obstruct the distribution of food supplies, is compounding the problem. Moreover, the excessive use of chemical fertilizers and other unsustainable agricultural practices pose a significant threat to environmental sustainability.

Recognizing this issue, Rise Foundation teamed up with Urban Futures to support the youth of West Manggarai. The program involves training and discussions on the significance of the Right to Food and Nutrition, aiming to empower participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to become catalysts for change within their communities. The program emphasizes both raising awareness and creating practical solutions that participants can implement in the field.

Rise Foundation presented the topic of the Right to Food and Nutrition, emphasizing its significance in increasing awareness among the trainees. Additionally, Rise Foundation assesses participants’ social media usage and provides guidance on how to use the platform for digital activism effectively and efficiently. Furthermore, a successful collaboration with the Population Control and Family Planning Service (DP2KB) and the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) ensures that this program is in line with local policies. Meanwhile, a partnership with the Indonesian Prosecutors Association (PJI) supports the development of sustainable food businesses by young people through ongoing training and assistance.

Rise Foundation is hopeful that this activity will mark the start of a significant transformation in West Manggarai. Driven by the energy of young people, there is hope for the creation of a better and more sustainable food system. Participants are encouraged to utilize their acquired knowledge in everyday situations and serve as an inspiration to those around them.
