Anemia among adolescent girls is a systemic public health challenge that requires ongoing treatment because it directly impacts the quality of human resources and long-term health risks, such as stunting in the next generation. As an organization focused on empowerment and capacity building, RISE Foundation took on a strategic role as a technical partner to support Nutrition International and the Banten Provincial Government in organizing the “Meeting to Share Best Practices and Lessons Learned from the Implementation of the 2017-2025 Iron and Zinc Supplementation Program for Adolescent Girls” held on December 23, 2025, in Serang City.
RISE Foundation’s role in this event was not only as a logistics manager but also as a facilitator to ensure that the successful experiences, operational challenges, and sustainability plans from eight years of accompaniment could be formulated into independent strategies for local governments. Since 2017, the Iron Supplement Tablet (TTD) program in Banten Province has involved multisectoral collaboration through the School or Madrasah Health Program (UKS/M), which includes the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Based on the data presented at the meeting, it is evident that these consistent efforts have yielded positive results; a survey conducted at the end of 2025 showed an increase in adolescent girls’ knowledge about health from 57.6% to 78.1%, as well as a 20.4-point increase in TTD consumption compared to the initial period of the program. As the technical organizer, the RISE Foundation designed an inclusive meeting format through panel sessions and poster presentations to highlight innovations from eight districts and cities in Banten. During these sessions, various good practices were revealed, providing clear evidence that local commitment is the key to success.
For example, Pandeglang District presented the success of the SARITAH SANTIK movement as school ambassadors who were able to boost TTD consumption to 95% in 2024, supported by a routine of drinking TTD together every Wednesday in 447 schools. Meanwhile, South Tangerang City highlighted the empowerment of health cadres through the “Doremi Fasolasido” program and the establishment of TTD ambassadors in each school, which succeeded in achieving a consumption coverage of 94.62%. The RISE Foundation ensured that every detail of this success was documented so that it could be replicated by other regions still facing similar challenges.
Through this event, a more independent 2026 Follow-up Action Plan (RTL) was also formulated, with one of its main focuses being the expansion of the program’s targets to non-formal educational institutions and Islamic boarding schools. Given that there are still many adolescent girls in Islamic boarding schools who do not have access to health screening services, coordination with the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs is a priority in the agreement that was reached. The Banten Provincial Health Office and the Ministry of Health emphasized that the sustainability of the program will depend on the integration of adolescent health services into the healthy school program currently being ratified by four relevant ministries.
In the technical management of the event, RISE Foundation implemented good operational standards, from managing offline and online participant registration to compiling media documentation for wide publication. The RISE team also assisted 8 districts/cities in Banten Province in preparing posters on good practices of the TTD Supplementation program to support the exchange of learning between regions in improving the effectiveness of the program in their respective areas.
This was evident from the enthusiasm of the participants during the poster presentation session in providing feedback and questions for each region. The presence of online facilitators also helped facilitate coordination between speakers and participants who attended virtually. This demonstrates the RISE Foundation’s dedication to providing professional technical support to achieve the strategic objectives of the national health program.
