Kick-Off Meeting for the SIGAP (Preparing a Generation of Achieving Children) Program in Pandeglang, Banten

To kick off the strategic steps of the SIGAP (Preparing a Generation of Achieving Children) Program, the RISE Foundation held a Kick-Off Meeting on August 27–28, 2025, at the SKB (Learning Activity Center) in Pandeglang. The event was attended by 41 participants, including coordinators and facilitators from six SIGAP Children’s Houses, the RISE Foundation team.

This event served to strengthen the capacity of SIGAP Children’s House managers, develop operational work stages, and prepare concrete contextual steps through various experiences and best practices to support child development in the Pandeglang Regency. Over two days, sessions were conducted in a participatory manner through individual reflection, group work, discussions, and sharing sessions focused on enhancing facilitator awareness and team dynamics.

Participants showed great enthusiasm and increased understanding of their strategic role as child service managers. The discussions strengthened team dynamics and collaborative spirit among SIGAP Children’s Houses. A number of challenges were identified, such as infrastructure limitations, lack of adequate educational aids, and low participation of families and caregivers. However, through group discussions, the participants managed to find various creative solutions that were realistic and appropriate to the local context.

The RISE Foundation emphasized three main objectives to be achieved through this activity:  first, to increase the capacity of six coordinators and thirty SIGAP Children’s House facilitators in understanding the importance of child growth and development; second, to strengthen their abilities in asset management, finance, and program reporting; and third, to harmonize and build a common understanding of effective and sustainable standard operating procedures (SOPs) for managing SIGAP Children’s Houses.

As part of the follow-up initiative, the RISE Foundation will assist each SIGAP Children’s House by implementing the action plans that have been developed, conducting in-depth sessions on reporting systems, and developing measurable operational work stages. In addition, the RISE Foundation will strengthen advocacy to village and sub-district governments to ensure continued support for SIGAP Children’s House services in Pandeglang.

The SIGAP Program was established in response to the challenges of child development in Pandeglang, including the high prevalence of stunting and the suboptimal provision of integrated childcare, nutrition, stimulation. Through capacity building and cross-sector collaboration, the SIGAP Program is committed to creating a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable ecosystem of child services.

For the RISE Foundation, the SIGAP Program Kick-Off Meeting represents a hopeful step toward building a child service system that prioritizes local needs and is oriented toward sustainability. Through the SIGAP Program implemented in Pandeglang, we believe these steps will bring about significant change for the future of a healthy and accomplished Indonesian generation.
