RAN PIJAR: Bogor City’s Step Towards a Healthy and Empowered Young Generation

Bogor, October 2024 – The Bogor City Government demonstrates a strong commitment to improving youth welfare through a strategic partnership with the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK – Kementerian Koordinator Bidang Pembangunan Manusia dan Kebudayaan), RISE Foundation, and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) Indonesia in implementing the National Action Plan for the Welfare of School-Age Children and Adolescents (RAN PIJAR – Rencana Aksi Nasional Peningkatan Kesejahteraan Anak Usia Sekolah dan Remaja). This collaboration aims to create a healthier, safer, and more supportive environment for youth while providing opportunities for them to participate actively in health and education-related decision-making.

RAN PIJAR is a program launched by Kemenko PMK through Regulation No. 1 of 2022, followed by Regulation No. 45 of 2022 regarding the National Team for Improving the Welfare of School-Age Children and Adolescents.

As the implementation partner for RAN PIJAR in Bogor City, RISE Foundation successfully recruited 20 youth from various organisations, forming the “RAN PIJAR Health Heroes Facilitators of Bogor City.” These facilitators received specialised training in youth health, nutrition, and mental health to support the program’s implementation in schools. Throughout the process, they actively participated in health outreach programs in nine high schools and one scouting organisation in Bogor City, aiming to create a safer and more supportive environment for teenagers. A total of 386 students from high schools in Bogor City received youth health education from the RAN PIJAR Health Heroes Facilitators. This outreach was conducted using participatory methods, actively engaging students in discussions and interactive activities, which made the material more engaging and easier to understand. This approach has proven effective in increasing students’ knowledge of youth health, nutrition, and mental health, aligning with RAN PIJAR’s goal to create a healthier and more empowered young generation.

RAN PIJAR Health Heroes Summit: Mobilizing Youth for Optimal Health in Bogor City

The RAN PIJAR Health Heroes Summit serves as the highlight event of the RAN PIJAR program’s implementation in Bogor City, aiming to strengthen the program’s sustainability by creating a healthier and more supportive environment for youth development. This event provided an opportunity to share best practices from various activities carried out during the real-action phase by the Health Heroes Facilitators.

The event was attended by Kemenko PMK, the Bogor City Government, several related agencies, and representatives of teachers and students from Bogor City schools. The presence of these stakeholders is expected to further solidify collaboration between the youth community and authorities.

During the RAN PIJAR Health Heroes Summit in Bogor City, various sessions featured teachers, students, and Health Heroes Facilitators as speakers in talk show segments. They shared experiences and best practices gained from their involvement in the RAN PIJAR program in Bogor City. Through these personal stories, they conveyed the positive impact and benefits they experienced, inspiring the continued success of the program in creating a healthier environment that supports adolescent welfare in Bogor City. The RAN PIJAR Health Heroes Summit not only serves as a platform to showcase best practices from previous program activities but also aims to ensure the sustainability of the RAN PIJAR program so that it can continue to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of adolescents in Bogor City.

Kick Off the 2nd Year of KOPAJA

On the first day of the activity, the agenda began with remarks from RISE Foundation representatives and the reading and signing of the cooperation contract. The main session discussed reflections on the implementation of the Urban Futures 2024 programme, with discussions on obstacles, lessons learned, and improvements that need to be made in 2025. One of the major changes is the adjustment of the cooperation model with CAI organisations, where in the future, KOPAJA will no longer refer to one particular organisation in involving inclusivity. This change aims to open up wider collaboration opportunities with various other inclusion organisations.
