Module Overview

The Hearing Forum is a meeting forum for community representatives which aims to accommodate and explore the challenges and needs of the community as actors receiving interventions or policies related to KIA issues. The output of this forum is a mapping of recommendations that will be presented to policy makers or actors who have the authority to make interventions in response to community challenges and needs, in accordance with the priority community needs obtained from the forum.

The Hearing Forum will be implemented by adopting a community-based approach which will influence the mainstreaming of values and discussion methods. This approach is a problem solving technique that places the audience at the center of a process, so that the product or program developed will involve human perspectives and emotions at every step of the problem solving process, especially the involvement of key target groups on KIA issues. The resulting recommendations will resonate and be in line with the needs of community representatives to face challenges on this issue.

Community representatives as participants will be encouraged to speak out, reflect on their experiences as program actors and intervention beneficiaries, by minimizing power relations in the forum, and facilitators will be active listeners in this forum. This approach also provides opportunities for all levels of society to cast their voices and then be heard in order to identify solutions with an open and non-judgmental approach.
